2010-2011: It's tough times for everyone all around. Because of rising costs, Finesse Dance Studio will begin having a show every other year in order to save both parents and the studio costs. This plan will commence next season, year 2010-2011 and alternate from there on. We hope the parents of our students and our students will support this decision.
The non-performance year will focus on technique and for some, possibly competitions or presentations. We feel this will better our student's dance training, and allow their dance skills to develop stronger and faster than before. This will also provide them time to pursue medal testing and exams, giving them something to work towards. Also, parents will have a break from costume expenses! Specialties will still happen commencing in November. We will have a presentation at Lakeshore (in full uniform) in the spring of 2011.
Recital 2010: We have a date for our show: June 4, 2010. I expect all to attend both this day and whatever rehearsals are given to your child the week before.
We want all students to have their hair braided like all the previous years, a picture of the hair done in braids is on the bulletin board in the change room. Plan on a busy week and come prepared.
For your information: We had planned for a season of October to beginning of May and because of the School Boards plans, were given a show in June which in turn gave all the students six extra weeks of classes for free! Plus with the rehearsal times running approximately three hours per booking, parents will be pleased to hear that their child will have plenty of time allotted to their child's dancing, also for free! This is going to be a great year for all!
Remember:
From now on, any information will be mentioned in class and parents/students are expected to look it up on the internet for further details and information. All important dates and reminders will be posted on this site in the monthly newsletter Help save our environment and GO GREEN TOO!

Why It Is So Very Important To Register Early
A studio bases its year on the amount of students enrolled. Planning has to be done before September in order for the studio to run smoothly and with a plan for the season. Many parents complain when a studio is disorganized and events are not produced in an orderly fashion. This is why it is necessary for a studio to know how many students and who they are going to teach. This also helps with program planning. Often, programs are cancelled or not put on the schedule because students for these programs have not registered by the time scheduling is put in place. Many students lose out on registering for the programs they want because the class is not included in the season's plans due to late registration or lack of registration, or the class if filled because they waited too long. Parents wanting to know what the dance schedule is so they can plan their winter schedules around dance and other activities, want a schedule in place asap. This can't be done if everyone waits for the last minute to register, as it was in the case of 2009's season. Let's not do this again. Register early. You can always change programs or add later, but join a class so that we can have schedules up and posted early for everyone's benefit!
