Who Are We?
Amongst
other things, we are a competitive
school. Our winnings include over
250 gold and platinum medals, multiple awards, yearly overall performance
recognition trophies and plaques, choreography awards, trophies and
scholarships. We have won
Grand Championships for pointe soloist and lyrical duet in 2007. Costume
awards and technique honors. We have students
who have gone onto television appearances, theatre contracts, entering and
winning the Worlds Dance Title and the All Canadian Dance Title, and some have
gone into teaching dance. Why are we such a success with
Competitions? Because our students understand the need for a
technical foundation, which means ballet. At competitions, judges want to
see technique, not sloppy dancing. You cannot fool a judge. They are
well-trained to spot dancers who lack in technique, finish, precision and
ability -- things achieved through training in ballet. We suggest those who
dispute the need for ballet, to attend a competition and watch and listen
to the judge's comments. We do, however, offer many recreational classes
that don't compete.

We are a technical school.
We not only educate our students
about the principles of
dance, but also on how to fully enjoy dance within its many facets of studies.
We are constantly upgrading and educating our teaching staff to serve our
membership better. Our choreography is known to be original and not
"old school", using the foundations and techniques of structured and instated
syllabuses of the CDTA (Canadian Dance Teachers Association) and DEA (Dance
Educators of America) that are the backbone of any real professional dance
school such as
ours. Our students learn to be the best that they can and enjoy themselves
immensely while achieving their goals.

We are both a performance level school, and, a recreational
school. Our recreational students participate in a wide variety of programs and
have gone on to compete at a novice level with huge successes of their own, but
competition is not guaranteed at registration. It is at the teacher's
discretion if she feels that her students can represent our school and
themselves well enough to compete at a novice level. Do not misunderstand, even
at this level, the judges can be brutal. We have a high level of integrity
that overflows into our music selections, conduct of our teachers, our
choreography for children.

We
have programs to suit all needs for all ages starting at three through to adult. We
hold yearly shows; put on yearly presentations/workshops at local public and
private schools; do
presentations for the retired or senior citizens' homes; we participate in
master classes with the National Ballet/Quinte Ballet; integrate our dance
programs into school boards physical education programs and much more. We
are the only school in the area that performs original story ballets, written
in-house.
We have a newly
renovated, fully upgraded two
room studio that is spacious and fully equipped for all types of dancing.
Our success and sold out shows speak tell it all. Our teachers are loved
by their students. And most importantly, we all have fun while learning
about dance.

We are the lowest charging school in the region and have
various payment packages to help parents meet the costs associated with dance.
We work with various children's programs, such as ProKids, Port Cares, Community
Business Sponsorship Programs and FACS to provide dance lessons for kids living
within struggling families. We are fundraisers for CDSS and have raised
awareness for kids with special needs. If you want a touch of Finesse added to your life...

Our Mission
To become the leading provider of a
proper dance education in the area.
"You
never know when something you do will touch the life of another in a significant
way. If I've learned one very valuable lesson in all the years I've danced,
taught, choreographed, and owned this studio is that the things you'd least expect to make a
difference, are the ones that matter the most. A word, a gesture or a look can
make or break a child and above all else as a mentor and role model for a child,
we must always put their self-esteem before our own needs. Do this, and
the rewards? They're endless! Dancing is not just something to do; it's a
life lesson filled with rewards. The discipline, friendships, co-ordination,
skills, rhythm, just to name a few, are all examples of what you can get out of
learning to put...
"A Touch of Finesse in Your
Dancing!"
